Musk, according to the xAI website, leads the new company, which employs DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla, and University of Toronto veterans.
Members of the team, according to the website, have contributed some of the most widely used methods in the field, presented novel approaches and analyses, and collaborated on and led the development of some of the discipline’s most significant findings.
“The goal of xAI is to understand the true nature of the universe,” the company’s website states.
The team will share further details at a Twitter Spaces Chat on July 14, according to the website.
Bloomberg reports that this is Musk’s sixth company, following Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, Neuralink, and The Boring Company.
According to the report, Musk has been indicating for months that he plans to build a competitor to OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot, ChatGPT. He was essential in the company’s establishment, but he left its board in 2018 and has become more dubious about OpenAI and advances in AI in general.
