Goggo Network and Oxbotica, two autonomous vehicle companies, have joined forces to push driverless deliveries throughout Europe.
The collaboration announced on Wednesday (March 22), will combine Oxbotica’s autonomous driving software from the United Kingdom with Goggo’s middle- and last-mile delivery operations across a variety of industries, including groceries, food delivery, and fast-moving commercial items (FMCG).
Goggo will employ Oxbotica’s autonomous software in its native nation of Spain in the initial phase of the relationship.
“The success of these tests will be a major building element for Goggo to incorporate Oxbotica inside its larger mobility network across Europe, including those in France,” the firms stated in a press statement.
The collaboration comes as a number of European merchants and technology companies continue to develop autonomous delivery trucks, with recent tests in France and Germany pointing to “a shifting environment and providing a window into the future of European logistics,” as noted in January.
The Hamburg traffic authority issued Europe’s first permission to Berlin-based firm Vay Technologies in December to begin testing driverless vehicles on public roads, marking a significant step forward in the march towards self-driving cars.
Another Goggo Network collaboration is taking place in France, where the business is collaborating with the French retail group Carrefour to test autonomous delivery cars in the Plateau de Saclay, popularly known as the French Silicon Valley.
